People Meet at Chiparaki
Continuing its commitment and long term involvement with the creation and evolution of the Los Angeles State Historic Park, members of the Alianza de los Pueblos del Rio contributed to the preparations and the inauguration events for this long awaited park.Irma Muñoz of Mujeres de la Tierra besides volunteering her many organizing talents, represented the Alianza at the official event stage.
Fabian Wagmister of Remapping LA worked with his research colleagues Jeff Burke and Jonathan Snipes to produce an innovative sound environment expressing the rich historical threads converging in this most significant site.
Fabian also conceived and directed the production of an interactive Cultural Civic Computing installation, shown during the Parks' opening weekend at the adjacent Chiparaki Cultural Center.
Robert Garcia, founder of the Alianza, director of CLIPI (Center for Law in the Public Interest), and a vital leader of the community efforts to insure this significant historical space became a place of "Community, Culture, and Identity" was also present to celebrate this special occasion
